The Shellharbour Club supports a number of local community groups, charities and sports organisations providing enormous benefits to the Shellharbour community.
This generosity is all part of the ClubGRANTS Scheme which ensures larger Registered Clubs provide financial support to their local community including front-line services and community projects.
The Club supports a number of community initiatives addressing community health, welfare and social services, employment assistance activities as well as community development programs and support activities, such as junior sport.
In line with the Club's vision, 'to enable our community to reach its highest potential', the Club endeavours to not only provide funding assistance but to also foster solid partnerships with local groups.
THE DENNY FOUNDATION
The Shellharbour Club was recognised for its support of The Denny Foundation's 'Boost 4 Families' Program; receiving a high commendation at the ClubsNSW 2016 Clubs and Community Awards.
The 'Boost 4 Families' program aims to alleviate hunger by providing a weekly supply of quality food parcels containing fresh produce, bread, quality meats and dairy products to struggling families at a low cost. Via the ClubGRANTS scheme, The Shellharbour Club donated more than $12,000 towards the project to ensure that the community program could assist a greater number of families.
DV8 MALIBU RIDERS
As a coastal city, the Club was proud to get behind DV8 Malibu Riders Shellharbour Inc and support the family orientated surfing club.
For over 30 years the not-for-profit sporting group has held an annual Surf Competition 'The Banana Classic' which attracts competitors from all over Australia to our local area. The Shellharbour Club was happy to provide financial assistance to the group to assist in the realisation of the surfing competition which not only keeps locals fit, healthy and water safe but also attracts tourists to beautiful Shellharbour.
RIDING FOR THE DISABLED
Offering both therapeutic and recreational benefits for the disabled, the Club is proud to support the local Riding for the Disabled organisation. Horse riding is a unique form of exercise and rehabilitation for those with a disability and helps to improve coordination, balance, muscular development and fitness.
Beyond the physical benefits, it also greatly assists in the development and restoration of personal confidence, self-esteem, communication skills, leadership and trust.
