  1. How the Recruitment process works

    The Shellharbour Club

Please note, The Shellharbour Club is an equal opportunity employer and we encourage applications from men, women, people with disabilities, people from culturally diverse backgrounds as well as people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

    • Stage 1 - Position Advertised: Human Resources advertise positions in avenues that best suit the need of the department and position. All external positions are advertised on The Shellharbour Club website as well as other online recruitment tools. Positions are generally open for two weeks and applications are not generally assessed until after the closing date of the advertisement.

    • Stage 2 - Shortlisting of Applications: Our recruitment team will complete a Culling Sheet to review all applications with consideration to be given to each applicant's background in comparison to the position requirements and selection criteria. Only suitable short-listed applicants may then be invited to attend an interview. The duration of this process generally takes one week to finalise after the closing date of the vacant position.

    • Stage 3 - Face-to-Face Interview: If you are invited to attend an interview, you will be invited to meet with our recruitment team where you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the role and other employment related questions associated with potentially working at The Shellharbour Club. You will be contacted via phone to arrange an interview and confirmation will then follow in writing. Interviews are generally finalised within one week, except in the instance of bulk recruitment drives. You may also be required to attend a second interview depending on the position.

If you have attended an interview with us and were not successful, you will be contacted via phone and advised that your application was not successful within one week of the interview you attended.

    • Stage 4 - Psychometric Testing and/or Assessment Tasks: Some roles may require you to complete a psychometric test and/or an assessment task to further assess suitability to the advertised role.

    • Stage 5 - Reference Checks: Before we make an offer, we will ask you for details of two work-related referees who should ideally be a current/former manager or supervisor. This generally takes up to one week to complete this task.

    • Stage 6 - Offer: Successful Candidate(s) will be contacted via phone to discuss the offer of employment and discuss the conditions of employment. Following verbal acceptance of the position, a confirmation email will then be sent to the candidate. A Letter of Offer, Standard Terms and Position Description will then be prepared and given to the successful candidate for the role.
